Which job should I take?

beenthere asked:

I have 2 opportunities and am not sure which to take. One is with a company that does internet stuff. They do search engine optimization work and I would be on a computer all day. Second job is with a home builder. I would be helping customers that buy brand new homes. I would keep them informed as to where their particular home is as far as the process of building it. Both offer benefits. Both pay very much the same. Both are close to my home.
Differences would be one is more laid back and I could wear shorts and come in when I want to. (computer job) The other is office clothes and a regular schedule. (homebuilder) Also, the computer job is a newer company that has only a dozen to 2 dozen employees (but expanding) and the other company is a large corporation.
What do you think?
A bit more info: the computer job could eventually turn into a job where I could work from home, which is what I would need to do in 6 years when I move to a remote area where there is little work.

The other job could move me up to a large payday and I could do many different kinds of jobs. Also, the computer gig is a company that I worry will be around in the future due to the changes in internet work.

I think you should go with the homebuilder job. Having a set schedule is nice because you can make plans knowing exactly when you work and when your done. Also you are working with people so you wouldn’t feel so disconnected from the world. Working with others is much more rewarding. Good luck with either job you choose.

The building job. You get to interact with people
    Invest in your future happiness.
I love my computer and could sit here all day, but if I had to spend 8 hours doing someone else stuff, I would be bored out of my mind.
    Laid back = Boring

If you are a puter geek then join the internet company. Advantage is that when the company grows, you will grow with it and advance in life.

Consider taking the the job related to “Internet stuff if you feel it is stable, the housing market future is rather shaky in many areas of the country and this industry has many ups and downs and is tied to interest rates.

I would go for the home builder job. I think you have to look at it on the long term. This company is bigger and therefore more stable. Prospects for higher income and promotions should be a major consideration.

    Peace and blessings!
