One Response to “Increase ranking internally?”

Without context, I’m not sure. It might refer to two general areas.

First, most sites have their own search function, and it’s important to make sure that the right products are shown in the right order for internal product searches. Some search tools (such as the Yahoo Store search function) don’t work as well as they should, and thus may require extra work to make sure that the right products appear in response to searches. This is especially true if you have product pages that include links to other product pages, with the names and perhaps even descriptions of those “other products” embedded in multiple pages on your site.

Second, the reference may be to “internal changes” that can be made to improve search engine ranking, as distinguished from “external strategies” such as inbound linking. This would include text optimization, meta-tags, titles, and other “standard” search optimization techniques.
