CSS will not adversly affect SEO. Why?

CSS focuses on the code.
SEO focuses on the content.

Therefore, the content that you put in the H1 tags and such will indeed affect SEO. Here’s an optimal plan from…

1. Decide on a specific niche to build a website around.
2. Find 2 or 3 high ranking keywords using Keyword Elite.
3. Discover their longtail opportunities using HitTail.
4. Build a lot of conent around these long-tail keywords choosing a different keyword to focus on in each individual page of your website.
5. Rinse and repeat the above until you have a tightly niched website with a ton of relevant content.

The CSS has no effect.

The reason the SEs look at the H tags is that they have semantic meaning. You dont just use a H1 tag because it looks big. There really should be only 1 H1 tag on each page and it should represent the page heading and as such describe the page contents. Subsequent H2 – H6 are subheadings and the search engine should give them a lower ranking.

Focus more on making sure that your HTML is structurely and semantically correct. Move all presentation into the CSS,

it’s quite the opposite. By separating the CSS and HTML you are increasing your chances of achieving semantic (valid) code that search engines don’t need to chew over.
